Data Science Manager

We are looking for a talented Data science manager to perform various functions as we strive to help our organization take advantage of data and to make the best management decisions.

This position is primarily to assist on our Data Science team in the execution of highly personalized data-driven direct mail and implement training. This is a hands-on, action-oriented position in a fast-growing company.

 

  • Company location: Suffern, NY
  • Expected hours of work: This is a full-time position. Generally, work is performed Monday through Friday, though holidays and weekends may be required

Core Responsibilities

  • Work with our data science team to develop and improve applications using Alteryx and other interconnected software/scripting languages
  • Work with teams to implement new product features, drive testing, and improve data quality in a cost-effective manner
  • Document your activities and processes
  • Develop advanced quantitative modules using a variety of programs/software to support predictive assessments
  • Responsible for communicating analytics model behavior/results to business
  • Responsible for carrying out technical risk analysis and reliability assessment
  • Provide recommendations for plans, programs, strategies, and other managerial needs
  • Responsible for the design of algorithms that require different models/methods to be used together
  • Responsible for driving data quality throughout the organization
  • Apply strong understanding of data science techniques and libraries to business problems
  • Direct data science teams to complete all project deliverables

 

We’re Looking for Someone With

  • At least 5+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields. In addition, comprehensive knowledge of modern data science and product/web analytics tools and techniques, including Python and associated data science ecosystem, Machine Learning, Google Cloud Data platform
  • Have broad knowledge and understanding of advanced statistical, machine learning, and/or data mining techniques
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or in a related field. Master’s degree is preferred
  • Passion about automating everything and applying scientific methods to solve business requirements and make the team more efficient
  • A desire to work closely with programmers, data scientists and stakeholders
  • Excellence in project planning and the ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Team and execution oriented. Builds positive company culture, highly engaged, solicits and provides feedback proactively, self-starter, results oriented who relies on objective evidence and resolves issues both internally and externally in a non-confrontational way
  • Experience with machine learning, security, and data privacy a plus
  • Experience managing in an agile environment; using analytically-oriented languages such as Python or R; working with large, complex datasets applying big data technologies and script language, including Python, Java, and C/C++
  • Teamwork abilities: Be responsible for a team of data scientists and engineers, help develop and manage complex projects, leading an interdisciplinary team to achieve project goals. Provide mentorship and guidance for the efficient and technical development of the members of the team
  • Statistical analysis skills: have advanced quantitative and statistical analysis skills to solve business problems and provide practical business insight using data and a quantitative/scientific approach
  • Strong Communication skills: Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills to relate with and supervise teams, as well as to communicate technical content and analytical insights/complex findings in a clear and concise manner to multiple audiences, including senior management
